Perceived seriousness mediates the influence of cervical cancer knowledge on screening practices among female university students in Ghana

Cervical cancer knowledge and awareness, as well as an individual’s perceptions about cervical cancer have been shown to significantly influence the screening practices of female students. Despite these studies, the mechanisms linking cervical cancer knowledge to screening practices among female students remain unexplored in the literature.

Fear of childbirth, anxiety and depression in three groups of primiparous pregnant women not attending, irregularly attending and regularly attending childbirth preparation classes

Lack of knowledge and fear of the unknown during pregnancy and childbirth make mothers fearful, worried, and anxious. Maternal fear and anxiety can lead to problems such as preterm childbirth and low birth weight. Increasing women’s knowledge through prenatal education can prepare them for childbirth and improve their health.

Endometriosis of the vesico-vaginal septum: A rare and unusual localization (case report)

We report a rare and unusual case of endometriosis in the vesico-vaginal septum. The location of this disease at this site is so uncommon that the literature about is very rare. Case presentation: A 41-year-old female was presented with urinary symptoms. There was history of caesarean section. Physical examination revealed an anterior vaginal wall mass.

Follicular dendritic cell sarcoma of the uterine cervix: A case report

Follicular dendritic cell sarcoma (FDCS) is a rare mesenchymal tumor that mostly occurs in systemic lymph nodes. FDCS in the uterine cervix has not yet been reported. Case presentation: A 49-year-old woman was referred to our department with a cervical tumor, which was histologically suspected to be undifferentiated carcinoma.

Female genital mutilation is defined as all procedures that involve partial or total removal of external female genitalia, or other injuries to the female genital organs for cultural and religious purposes. In Ethiopia, the prevalence of female genital mutilation practice was 70.8% according to Ethiopian demographic and health survey 2016.

Comparison between bidirectional Stratafix® barbed suture and conventional suture in laparoscopic myomectomy: A retrospective study

Laparoscopic myomectomy (LM) is one of the techniques feasible for the treatment of intramural myoma. This technique is reported to be difficult when large fibroids are involved because of excessive blood loss during surgery. Skillful and fast suturing appears to be associated with reduced blood loss during LM. In this study we compared the surgical outcomes of using bidirectional Stratafix® barbed suture versus conventional suture during LM.

A Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser patient with leiomyoma and dysplasia of neovagina: A case report

Most patients with congenital uterus and vaginal aplasia (i.e., Mayer–Rokitansky–Kuster–Hauser [MRKH] syndrome) have rudimentary pelvic uterine structures that contain smooth muscle. Although leiomyomas and dysplasia of vaginal mucosa are relatively common in the general population, they are rare in MRKH patients. Data on the vulnerability of neovaginas to HPV-associated dysplasia are limited.
